Description: Fleet enema is a single dose unit containing 130 mL of solution. Each unit delivers 120 mL when used as directed. 

Uses: For relief of constipation. As a routine enema for cleansing the bowel before rectal examination, pre- and postoperatively, to relieve fecal or barium impaction, collecting stool specimens, during pregnancy, before and after delivery.

Dosage:

  • For Adults and Children Aged 12+: 120 mL as a single dose.
  • For Children 2 to 12 years: 60 mL as a single dose.
  • For Children under 2 years: Consult a doctor.

Directions to Use:

  • The preferred positions are: lying on left side with knees flexed, or in the knee-chest position. Self-administration may be carried out with the individual lying on a towel, on the bathroom floor, or in the bathtub. Refer to product packaging for visual depiction of different positions.
  • Remove protective cap from pre-lubricated rectal tube before using. Insert tube gently, pointing it in the direction of the naval. Slowly squeeze bottle to empty contents into rectum. Withdraw the tube from the rectum.

Medicinal Ingredients (per 100 mL):

  • Monobasic Sodium Phosphate 16 g
  • Dibasic Sodium Phosphate 6 g

Non-medicinal Ingredients:

  • Benzalkonium Chloride
  • Disodium EDTA
  • Purified Water

Cautions and Warnings:

  • For rectal use only.
  • Dosage Warnings. Using more than one enema in 24 hours can be harmful. Do not use without asking a doctor: for more than 3 days; if you have kidney disease; if you have heart problems; if you are dehydrated; when abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting are present
  • Ask a doctor before using this product if you: are 55 years old or older; are on a sodium-restricted diet; have a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than 2 weeks; already used a laxative for more than 1 week
  • Stop use and ask a doctor if you have: rectal bleeding; no bowel movement or no liquid comes out of the rectum after 30 minutes; symptoms of dehydration (feeling thirsty, dizziness, vomiting, urinating less often than normal). These symptoms may indicate a serious condition
  • If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
