Description: JAMP K-Citrate 10 mEq Potassium is a supplemental oral potassium for the maintenance of good health, for potassium replacement therapy and electrolyte replenisher, for the treatment or prevention of hypokalemia (potassium depletion) which does not result from dietary deficiency, and for the treatment of metabolic acidosis.
Recommended Dosage (for adults):
- For prevention of hypokalemia: Take 1 tablet 3 times daily with a full glass of water.
- For treatment of hypokalemia: Take 2 tablets 3 times daily with a full glass of water.
- Take this medicine immediately after meals or with food to lessen possible stomach upset or laxative action. Do not chew, suck, or crush tablets. Take as directed by a physician.
Medicinal Ingredients (per capsule):
- 1080 mg Potassium Citrate (10 mEq potassium)
Non-medicinal Ingredients:
- Hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose
- Magnesium stearate
- Microcrystalline cellulose
- Silicon dioxide
- Stearic acid
Cautions and Warnings:
- A probable association exists between the use of coated tablets, containing potassium salts, with or without thiazide diuretics, and the incidents of serious bowel ulceration.
- Such preparation should be used only when adequate dietary supplementation is not practical and should be discontinued if abdominal pain, distention, nausea, vomiting, or gastrointestinal bleeding occur.
- If pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a kidney or heart condition, consult a physician prior to use.
- If nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, numbness of extremities, muscle weakness, paralysis, cardiac arrhythmias, low blood pressure or confusion occurs, discontinue medication immediately and consult your physician.
- Do not use following vigorous exercise or acute dehydration; with other potassium-containing supplements or with potassium-containing salt-substitutes; if you have gastrointestinal ulceration or obstruction, adrenal insufficiency or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, or if you have trouble swallowing, at a high risk for potassium chloride induced gastric lesions, or if you are taking any prescription medication especially those which increase serum potassium such as potassium-sparing diuretics or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors.
- May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps; discontinue use and consult a healthcare practitioner if these symptoms are severe
